A quick couple of links to the Conncecticut and Massachusetts USGS Streamflow pages. These are two of the tools that I will use to help plan our time out on the water.Â
Fishing Report 5/14/24
Small streams have already shrunk to more summer-like flows, resulting in dry fly opportunities and grabby fish. If you are having trouble connecting, switching to a small streamer can bring success. Larger rivers like the Farmington have been fishing well. The flows have been slightly erratic. It is also worth keeping an eye on the bottom after the high water and storms of the last year. Midge patterns have been effective; early mayflies and small caddis are out, and we are beginning to see more large bugs on the water. Classic soft hackles and streamers continue to be productive, but you should also have a few terrestrials in your box.
